World map – Corten steel

The avant-garde, modern-looking map of the World made of corten steel perfectly blends in with spaces decorated in the Scandinavian, rustic, loft, industrial, as well as plenty more types of modern styles. The 2 mm thick corten steel map is an interesting alternative to ordinary canvas arts. Ideally suited for modern, minimalist residential interiors, it also looks superbly in offices and commercial spaces, such as restaurants or coffeehouses. The edge of the painting has been moved from the wall by a 10 mm bend, thanks to which its depth is wonderfully emphasized.

Map made of Corten steel is also offering a chance to experience their extraordinary design and material properties throughout all different stages of their usage. A rugged, rusty surface undergoes constant, dynamic color changes over the years. From light brown, warm color right after production, corten steel turns into an increasingly intense, deep black for a period of about 40 years.

The map is easy to install with only a few basic home tools and it’s also relatively lightweight. There is no size or pattern listed that you are looking for? Nothing’ lost, contact us and present your idea, and we will do our best to meet your expectations.

Corten is a weathering type of steel developed to avoid having to paint steel for protection. Thanks to the content of elements such as copper, chromium, nickel, and phosphorus, it proves increased resistance to corrosion and to extreme weather conditions. Appropriate selection of alloying elements causes copper oxides to release on the surface of products made of corten in the form of a thin coating. This coating, however, is completely tight, durable and does not process deeper into the material, thus there is no loss of sheet thickness, and there is no flaking. Therefore, products made of corten steel are very durable and require very little maintenance.
